student project
For the past two summers i have opened up my studio to an art teacher for one week instruction of jewelry making. The two projects in the images from the 2021 session illustrate basic metal forming and fabrication; bezel setting; stone cutting; and finishing. We had a good time and believe a great deal was learned in limited time.
sterling silver pendant
This pendant was fabricated from sterling silver metal with a Montana sapphire bezel set and highlighted in 14 karat yellow. Pendant is suspended on a sterling silver chain.
silver and gold bracelet
The bracelet is made of sterling silver with a centered 14 karat yellow gold "Celtic-style" cross. The finish on the bracelet is slightly distressed to compliment the rustic-cast yellow gold cross.
Sterling silver bar necklace
Straight forward design with the bail visible from the front, which reminds me of forged hasps on an castle door.
elk ivory “bobble”
Many an elk ivory has been mounted as testament to a hunters trophy: but this is my version. The color of the end of the ivory is visible as it moves side to side-two sided matching ivory.
Sterling silver beaver
This work is fabricated in sterling silver with a 14 karat gold log for the beaver to gnaw on. A Montana sapphire accents the pendant. Dillon, Montana is home of the Beavers...the mascot for Beaverhead county high school...in Beaverhead County. The Beaverhead Rock outcropping is just just north of town, which was a landmark of the early traveler. Makes sense?
fishing the Madison
Ennis, Montana! The Madison river gently flows through the valley and right through Ennis, Montana. Each summer a wonderful art show is held in town. Don't miss it-it's a one day event. Much talent assembles under the shade of a park like setting of the Madison Valley Bank-Thanks for venue use. Over the years I have met many A+ artists at the Madison Valley Arts Festival +http://ennisarts.org,
