Art Deco meets Traditional Western bolo tie. Fabricated in 18 Karat yellow gold with touches of palladium, this work of art weighs nearly one ounce. The center piece of this necklace is a vivid, fine blue-violet tanzanite weighing almost 3.0 carats. This gem is a custom cut stone presenting wonderful brilliance. Bezel set below the tanzanite are three well-matched nearly perfect, round brilliant diamonds with a total weight of 1.03 carats. Colorless and free from inclusions these diamonds possess unusual transparency that let them “shine through the night”. Sprinkles of fine accent diamonds are set ascending from the centered tanzanite. This was my entry in the 2018 Western Design Conference in Jackson, Wyoming.

When working with expensive materials in a design it is often wise to build a prototype in sterling silver to review the overall concept. The silver bolo version is set with a bright and richly colored amethyst accented with brilliant cut white sapphires. I found the design to be pleasing so proceeded to build it in 18 karat gold.
